September 11-13, 2015 ~ This collage shows the Chalk Art that was created for the “Georgetown Loop’s Buffalo Bill Daze”. There were 5 pieces commissioned for this show:
Tadd Moskal did the piece downtown in from of the Hotel de Paris. We are pretty sure this is where Buffalo Bill stayed during his performances in Georgetown. We are still searching for the absolute proof, but it’s not unreasonable to make that connection.
Eric Matelski did a fabulous rendition of Sitting Bull at the Devil’s Gate Depot. In their later years, Buffalo Bill Cody and Sitting Bull became the greatest of friends. A friendship based on mutual respect.
Christine Blackburn & Kyle Banister did the piece near the train platform at Devil’s Gate. They chose to recreate the stained glass window from the Buffalo Bill Museum on Lookout Mountain nearGolden, CO. Only this time in chalk.
Naomi Haverland was the first to start, and she created her piece near the Silver Plume Depot. Naomi is well known for her portraits and she didn’t disappoint this time. Her portrait of Buffalo Bill looked an awful lot like Kyle Banister, and was well received by everyone who saw it.
Michael Rieger also did his colorful Bison on the plains at the Silver Plume Depot
This entire event was very well attended and feedback has been positive. I think it is safe to say there will be a 2nd Annual, “Georgetown Loop’s Buffalo Bill Daze”.
