Thanks to Art Mastermind Eric Matelski for curating my “Baseball In ’68” art show at Dazzle Jazz Club. Baseball season is upon us once again, and this was a fun show to create some all new artwork for.
The inspiration for this show came from “The 1968 Exhibit” currently showing at History Colorado. I want to thank Marc Stout of ROOT Sports and Deborah Radman of History Colorado for the tour of this great exhibit.
As most of us remember, 1968 was a unique year in the history of the United States. The baseball of that year was no different. I focused on some of the larger events that happened that year. Bob Gibson of the St Louis Cardinals set pitching records that still stand on his way to both the National League MVP and Cy Young Award. Denny McLain won 31 games that year, a record that may never be broken. McLain wan the Cy Young Award for the American League. That set up a first time ever World Series game where two Cy Young winners faced off against each other. Mickey Mantle played his last Major League game. And Simon and Garfunkel asked the famous question, “Where’d You Go Joe DiMaggio?”
The “Baseball In ’68” show runs throughout April at Dazzle Jazz Club. Dazzle is located at 930 Lincoln St, Denver, CO
