I tried having a little fun with this illustration. The building shown here, the J Sneezer Merchant Tailor, actually exists and is located in Georgetown, CO. My goal here is to show how different mediums can be used, and what they look like in an illustration. So I did an original black line drawing of the building. Then I divided the drawing into quarters so I could use 4 different mediums, thus comparing similarities and differences.
The far left hand side (as you look at it) was done in graphite pencils. Several different grades were used ranging from 6H to 6B.
Moving left to right, the next quarter was done using colored pencils.
And the next was done with Prismacolor Markers.
And the last quarter was colored digitally using PhotoShop.
This made for a nice little experiment. I hope you enjoy it.
